Description:Looking from Martin Street along St. Martin's Place towards the Shire Hall and Market Square, Stafford.

The left foreground has a part view of the Grade II Listed (1740) No. 4 and 5, Martin Street. At the time of this photograph No. 5 was offices for Stafford Area Health Committee, this later became Walton's Restaurant and Kitchen Corner, currently (2025) known as the Dog House public house.

The adjacent buildings are the rear view of shops including W.H. Smith’s on Greengate Street. Further along there is The Chains Vaults public house which became Joxer Brady's and currently known as the Market Vaults. On right there is a partial view of the Shire Hall, The Judge’s Chambers and the County Buildings.
