Description:This view looks across St. Mary's landscaped churchyard to St. Mary’s Grove. From the left, No’s 5 - 8 St. Mary's Grove are Grade II listed buildings. No’s 5 and 6 were originally houses built in the mid-18th Century. At the time of this photograph No. 6 was a Guest House. No’s 7 and 8 have a core dating from around 1680; however, in this form they date from the mid-18th century and were built as a pair of semi-detached houses. Their fronts were rebuilt in largely the same style around 1985. In later years No’s 5 and 6 are now (2025) occupied by Hutsby-Mees Solicitors Offices and No’s. 7 and 8 by Nowell Meller, Solicitors. The left side end of No. 5 is now attached to the Guildhall Shopping Centre.
