Description:A postcard view of the School in Hyde Lea. The boy on the left (marked by x) is thought to be Willie Ward who sent the following message: “Should auld acquaintance be forgot” to his cousin, Master Eli Glover of Stafford Villa, Narberth, Pembrokeshire, Wales.
There had been a school in Hyde Lea from around 1863 until it closed in 1980. In later years a nearby cottage and part of the school building (to the left side) were demolished and redeveloped as a private house. The remaining part of the school (on the right) became Hyde Lea and Coppenhall Village Hall.
This postcard was franked in Stafford on 11 September 1908.
