Description:At the end of the First World War, when the New Zealand Rifle Brigade (NZRB) left the military camp on Cannock Chase, there was a farewell presentation and a parade through the streets of Stafford.
In this postcard view, the Mayor of Stafford, Joseph Rushton, is pictured on the Market Square with dignitaries, including the New Zealand High Commissioner, for the presentation and exchange of flags to the troops of a silk Union Jack and a silk New Zealand Ensign, and for the Mayor to receive the NZRB silk ensign. After the ceremony the parade marched through the town to Siemens' sports field where the soldiers took part in sports events, watched by members of the public.
