Description:Looking south west from Beacon Stoop on the Weaver Hills. In the middle distance to the left is Kevin Quarry which is now (2020) used by JCB for new vehicle development. On the right can be seen Wredon and Wardlow Quarries. The Weaver Hills are a small range of limestone hills which are generally reckoned to mark the southern end of the Pennines. The highest point is Beacon Stoop (371m or 1,217 feet) which is usually marked as 'The Walk' on maps. The area is the site of numerous prehistoric tumuli. The Weaver Hills have been worked by a number of large quarries: Kevin Quarry, Wredon and Wardlow Quarries for limestone, and Cauldon Low Quarry for cement production.
