Description:The town planning scheme allocated areas or zones for different types of development such as residential, industry and public open space (the colour codes can be seen on the index map). Development had to comply with the Town Scheme and also shows principal road proposals and building areas. Only a small portion of this sheet is part of the Newcastle Town Planning Scheme. At the bottom of the map 'Watermill Woods' was designated as a public open space (striped green), the area below it is deferred development (brown) and the boundary line (blue) can be seen just above the woods. Just out of the Planning Scheme area on the map you can see Alsagers Bank, Halmer End Digitisation funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
