Date:1910 - 1920 (c.)
Description:These spurs were used by Lt. Colonel Harry Johnson. When the First World War broke out in he was selected to train the 2nd/5th Battalion at Butterton Hall. In 1917 he was sent to France but was captured during the Germans 'big push'. Only 35 men of his battalion survived and were taken prisoner. Spurs were originally worn on boots and were used to direct the horse while riding. Spurs don't tend to be used these days as they are considered not necessary and cruel.
