Description:Pictured is the start of the Armitage Club and Institute Walking Match, an image taken from a glass negative. The Walking Match commenced at the junction of Old Road and New Road. In the background is a corner shop and a horse drawn delivery vehicle belonging to A. Whitworth and Son. Attached to the shop are signs advertising Hudson's Soap and Horniman’s Tea. The shop remains (in April 2014) as a general store. Taking part are members of Armitage Club and Institute, Railway Bridges Inn, Rugeley and the Constitution Inn, Lichfield.
