Description:This is a plan of the Egyptian Court and Cheshire Cottage at Biddulph Grange Gardens. These buildings were created as an integral part of the gardens by James Bateman who set up the gardens in the mid 19th century to house his growing plant collection. Diagrams (clcokwise from top left): - Front of the Egyptian Court with sphinx statues - Back of the Cheshire Cottage - Front of the Cheshire Cottage - Plan view. This diagram was created in 1982 during the Stoke-on-Trent Historic Building Survey and is reproduced by kind permission of HMSO.
