Description:In the early 1900s, John and Emily Worthington (1859-1923) with their family, Evelyn Mary (born 1898) and Edith May (born 1902), lived in the old thatched Churchyard cottage.

In later years Sam Fox and his wife Lotty lived in old Churchyard cottage until they moved, taking his pigeon loft and tool shed a short distance to the nearby Church cottage. Sam worked at Green Farm and often drove a Fordson TVO tractor. Lotty smoked woodbines most of the day. She is said to have worked hard in her Churchyard cottage taking in washing half of the week from houses around the village and she also did house cleaning locally. After Sam retired, he did not live very long and then Lotty moved to Smithy Lane Bungalow.

Additional information: Thank you to Mr Terry and Mrs Jan Harrison (nee Lawton) and to the late Fred Waterfall (Owd Fred, Countryman) who wrote and published ‘Old Seighford 1940–1980’ in 2011.
