Date:1964

Description:Oncote Farm, formerly Oncote Hall, pictured during demolition in 1964. The building’s ground plan, massive chimney stacks, timber-framed structure and surrounding moat indicate that it may well have been a medieval manor house, albeit much altered. Nothing of the building remains on the site which is now wooded.

Oncote was acquired by the Earl of Lichfield in the early 19th century, along with other neighbouring landholdings around Eccleshall, Ellenhall and Chebsey. The tenant in the 1830s was John Tagg. Philip Kent took over the tenancy in the late 1890s and he and his family farmed here throughout the 20th century until it was demolished in 1964.
