Date:1966
Description:This view taken by Dr J.E.C. Peters in 1966 looks along Bank Passage towards Salter Street. On the left a milk churn can be seen by the back door of the Popular Café which stood on the corner and faced Salter Street. All of the buildings after the telegraph pole and the two shops (one of which was Thorne & Co., ironmongers and builders merchants) across the road behind the gas street-lamp have been demolished. Centre right the partially seen shop in Salter Street and the buildings on the right remain (2026).
