Description:Looking west along Crabbery Street, Stafford, the corner building dates from 1911 and is viewed here from the junction with Gaolgate Street. All of these buildings remain although over the years the ground floors have changed use on several occasions. In this scene the corner shop is occupied by Hepworth's which was a national Gentleman's Tailors business selling bespoke and 'made-to-measure' suits. The Stafford branch was No. 2, Gaolgate Street. Note the miniature Christmas trees in the shop windows and the lights above. In later years Hepworth’s moved further along Gaolgate Street and was rebranded into Next men’s and women’s clothing and footwear, subsequently moving to the Queens Retail Park. The premises then became Trespass an outdoor wear shop. After Hepworth’s moved from this corner site it was occupied by a succession of Jewellers and currently (2026) it is known as Masovia, a Polish bakery and café. Moving along to the right at No. 20 Crabbery Street is a branch of George Mason, a national chain of grocers, next door at No. 21 is Shields, fine china and glassware, then DER TV rentals at No. 22, at No. 23 is Rose & Co. decorating materials, then Dewhurst Butchers and on the extreme right is one of the entrances to Stafford Market.
