Description:The entrance to the yard at the Gas Works, which was situated off the Stafford Road, Wolverhampton.

Wolverhampton Gas Works opened in 1849. It was situated close to the canal to expedite coal deliveries and to export by-products such as coal tar. It was extended in 1899. The works had its own canal basin and its own railway system with links to the LNWR and GWR main lines. The switch to Natural Gas from Coal Gas led to its closure in 1967 and the site is now occupied (2025) by Wolverhampton Science Park and an industrial site.
