Description:This view of the building was taken before the Nicholson Institute was built next door. The house was built in the late seventeenth century and is a fine example of architecture of the period. Originally it had a front and a back garden, with views of the surrounding countryside. The cottage to the right has been replaced by the gates to the Institute and the cobblestones have been tarmaced over. Joshua Nicholson, lived at Stockwell House next door. He was the man who generously paid for the building of the Institute. Henry Salt, who worked up through the company of Brough, Nicholson & Hall to become a director was another owner of the house for many years. In recent times Greystones has built up a reputation as an award winning tea room run by Mr and Mrs Warrilow.
