Description:St. Mary's Church, Stafford, is a Grade I listed building. This view of the west front was taken in 1964 from near the Church Lane junction with St. Mary’s Place in the vicinity of the' Soup Kitchen'. Over the years this scene has hardly changed and remains much the same as today (2025).

The Collegiate Church of St. Mary is the parish church of Stafford. The present building is a mixture of genuine medieval and the work of Sir George Gilbert Scott, who restored the church in 1841-1844 in what he imagined to be its original style. The octagonal tower of the church was once crowned with a spire which fell during a storm in 1593.
