Description:Viewed from Mill Street the Swan Hotel's Garage was at the rear of the Hotel which fronts onto Greengate Street.
The Garage together with the building on the left has since been demolished and the area is now (2025) the hotel's car park. In the background the tower of St Mary's Church can be seen rising over the rooftops of the old Refectory buildings in St. Mary's Mews. It is possible that the Garage building was originally used for stabling. In 1805 the yard area was described as ‘entire, containing coach-house, granaries and stabling for near 50 horses’. By the early years of the 20th century the stables and coach houses had been converted to garages.
