Description:This view looks north along Foregate Street from Gaol Square, Stafford.

On the extreme left the buildings are 87 to 91 Foregate Street, demolished in 1964. In the centre are the Staffordshire Advertiser and Chronicle offices. On the right is Charles Clark's Gaol Square Garage depicting the 'Austin' motif on the roof gable. The garage were agents for B.M.C. Austin, Morris, Rover and Wolseley motor cars and also sold used vehicles. The newspaper offices had been demolished by 1966 and the garage in the mid-1970's and from around 2003 replaced by the Gaol Square gyratory which still occupies (2025) most of this area.
