Date:1961

Description:Late 18th Century ornamental figures of Chinese tea-tasters. Made from brick and tile rubble, cemented together and covered in plaster. Detail modelled in plaster on a brickwork base. Formerly on the parapet of 4, Market Street, Stafford, a former tea warehouse. The figures were a form of advertisement at a time when tea was an expensive commodity.
The shop, which at this time was Motor Cycle Mecca, was demolished in 1963 and the figures are now in the County Museum collection.
