Date:1962
Description:This view looks towards the Public Free Library and Stafford Museum & Art Gallery, built in 1914, in the centre of the photograph. The building on the left, behind the road sign, houses: T.A. Rowney's T.V. radio and electrical goods, Chatfield's Funeral Directors and Hudson's leather goods and stationery shop, the site is now occupied by CASA Bar. Most of the buildings to the right are still recognisable. T.A. Rowney also had their 'new' shop on the right under the HMV sign, it is now (2025) an Optometrists. Rowney's advertisements contained both of the Bridge Street addresses until 1966, dating the demolition of the buildings on the left to about this date.
