Date:August 1925

Description:Uttoxeter from the air, The Heath, looking north towards Rocester. The Three Tuns Inn can be seen slightly right of centre of the photograph with the winding Ashbourne/Rocester Road behind it can be seen leading away from the junction of New Road/Cheadle Road and Ashbourne Road. A short distance before the left hand bend on the Ashbourne/Rocester Road the line of trees from right to left indicates the old course of the Uttoxeter Canal. Just beyond that left hand bend in the road Uttoxeter Mill can be seen standing alone on the River Tean which can be discerned by the line of trees along its banks running from left to right in the centre of the photograph. The modern A50 dual carriageway runs parallel with the river in front of the old mill site where the large roundabout by MacDonald's Restaurant now is (2024).

What looks like a very straight road to the right of the Rocester Road is the Churnet Valley Railway line. Bottom left is the sprawl of buildings of The Heath County Council Junior and Infants' School, now (2024) St. Mary’s CE(A) First School on Cross Road.
