Description:A cast iron mill wheel believed to be at John Birch & Sons' paint and colour mill at Froghall, prior to or during removal. The water-driven mill was situated adjacent to the River Churnet and the railway line.

The mill may be that described in sale particulars of 1833 as: 'Water Corn Mill ... erected a few years only with drying kiln attached ... in the occupation of John Birch". By 1847 a newspaper article references: " ... John Birch, the owner of and occupier of water corn-mill and colour works on the Churnet, at Froghall ...".
