Description:Alexander Blakely, pictured in March 1955 at the time of his appointment as manager of the Swan Hotel, Greengate Street, Stafford, taking over from Sidney Hall. Born in 1928, he had previously worked in hotels in Harrogate and Cardiff before moving to Stafford with his family. The Swan had recently been acquired by Ind Coope and Allsopp Ltd.
