Description:A carnival procession of carriage and people on horseback passing through Cheddleton. The carnival is believed to have been nicknamed 'Garretaw' (water rag spelled backwards) by the local vicar. Many events took place on the nearby Caldon Canal which involved getting wet. This included walking the plank on pirate boats, and being thrown in the water in mock battles.
