Date:1976

Description:A black and white postcard showing the canal boat 'Vienna' moored on the Caldon Canal at Cheddleton Flint Mill.

Built at Saltley, Birmingham in 1911 by carriers Fellows, Moreton & Clayton with the registration number 1234 as an unpowered boat, 'Vienna' was renamed and re-registered in 1916 as 'Verbena' with the registration number 1347. This may have been due to sensibilities regarding it being named after the capital city of a then current war-time enemy. 203 is its Fleet Number.

The boat's name reverted to 'Vienna' in 1972 and it was moored at Cheddleton Flint Mill for many years until it was restored in 1999 with Heritage Lottery funding. It was sold in 2008. In 2011 its name was changed back to 'Verbena' and it was repainted in the livery of the South Midlands Transport Ltd.
