Description:In 2006 column was cleaned and the steps replaced. The Market Cross marks the spot in the High Street where a variety of weekly markets take place. The Market Cross originally stood in the centre of the High Street, opposite the end of the Ironmarket. It has been restored several times in its lifetime and in 1820 it was moved to its present location in front of the Guidlhall. At some point a Roman Doric column and lamp were added to the medieval steps. This column has been replaced and the original stands outside the Brampton Museum.
