Description:A Michelin open-topped double-decker passing through Nelson Place, Newcastle-under-Lyme during the mid-1970s and the construction of the inner ring road. A Womble stands at the back.

Newcastle Carnival became an annual event after the octocentenary carnival celebrations of 1973. The carnival was always held on the last Bank Holiday Monday in May and included a procession through the town, charity stalls, fun fair, and many live music performances. The carnivals stopped taking place in around 2006.
