Date:19th of July 1919

Description:Crowds of people watching a military march past outside Lipton's grocers on Greengate Street during Peace Celebrations at the end of the First World War. During the day’s events, the Mayor of Stafford, Cllr Joseph Rushton, and the Corporation watched a march past in front of the Shire Hall in Market Square by the 3rd Battalion of the Bedfordshire Regiment. Gaolgate, the Market Square and Greengate Street were decorated with flags of several nations and Venetian style poles supporting bunting over the street.

Next door to Lipton's grocers is W.H. Priestley's piano shop at 45 Greengate Street.
