Description:The name of Ironmarket no doubt came from the fact that Newcastle was a centre of ironmaking in the 14th century. The corner of the Lancaster Buildings can just be made out on the right hand side of the Ironmarket. The Municipal Hall can be seen residing at the top of the Ironmarket at this time.
