Description:View of St. Mary's Church, Stafford from south-east. St Mary's Church is Grade 1 listed. The church dates from the early 13th century, with 14th century transepts and 15th century clerestories and crossing tower.Excavations in 1954 revealed the adjacent late Anglo-Saxon church of St Bertelin. The church was restored in 1844-5 under the direction of Sir George Gilbert Scott. Photograph believed to have been taken by Walter Williams (1876-1929) of Stafford.
