Description:Photograph shows J. Brookfield's & Son, millers and corn, cake, hay, straw and chass merchants at the Town Mills, Stafford. In 1911 the proprietors were L.P. Dodd and F. Peake.
The mill was built by George Brewster in 1834, on the site of the medieval town mill. It was powered by two wheels, fed from the mill pool by a culvert running under the road.
The mill was demolished in 1957 and the land became part of Victoria Park; the mill wheels are still preserved where they stood. Image from 'Staffordshire Past and Present: An Historical Pictorial & Descriptive Guide' published in 1911 and edited by J.W.Bradley.
