Description:A view of Sandy Lane, also known as Hednesford Road, showing the old thatched cottages demolished in 1912. They were sited between the Globe Hotel (off the picture to the right) and Sandy Lane (left). Beyond the cottages can be seen St. Mary's Mission Church, also known as 'The Tin Tabernacle', which was erected in 1874 and demolished during World War One. The Mock Tudor building beyond is Holly Lodge.
The divided back on this Valentine's series postcard indicates a date of around 1902 but the photograph was taken a number of years earlier. The message on the reverse notes: "keep this card as we cant [sic] get any more like it.".
