Date:1964

Description:Acton Hill Farm dates from the late 18th or early 19th century, possibly adapting an earlier building. The architect may have been Samuel Wyatt who was working at Shugborough around this time. The house was reduced in size around 1960.

Owned by the Earl of Lichfield’s estate, it was built as a home for the Anson family’s land agent, Robert Harvey Wyatt (1769-1836). His son Harvey Wyatt (1798-1876) succeeded him in the role and also lived here with his family. A third generation of the same family, another Robert Harvey Wyatt, was sacked by Thomas Francis, Viscount Anson, soon to be 3rd Earl of Lichfield, in 1886. Acton Hill Farm was then farmed by Robert George Patterson until his death in 1939.
