Description:A Midland Red Bus destined for Beaconside is pictured with passengers boarding in Gaolgate Street, Stafford. On the left is Hepworth’s menswear shop and adjacent is Marks and Spencer store (this relocated in 2016 to a new retail site at Riverside in Stafford). On the right is Bambers fashion shop with the windows advertising a liquidation sale and extreme right is the Goldee shop, also holding a sale. Over the years most of these shops changed ownership on several occasions. This photograph was taken by Stafford photographer Tony Boydon.
