Description:In 1958 Mrs. Lillian Astbury of Stone (left) donated a plum pudding to the British Food Research Association, based in Leatherhead, Surrey. It had been canned in 1900 for soldiers serving in the Boer War. The can was opened and tasted. Tasting the pudding is Mr Meredith Crosse of Messrs. Crosse and Blackwell Ltd. Looking on is Vice-Admiral N.A. Copeman, The Fourth Sea Lord and Chief of Supplies and Transport.
