Jardine's is along-established organ manufacturer that can trace its evolution back to 1780.
Thomas Lowe was the school headmaster and was awarded an M.B.E. for his services to education. he has been described as 'far-sighted' and ahead of his time believing in the benefits of audio-visual teaching methods.
Heron Cross County Junior School first opened in the previous Wesleyan School building. The school buildings were built in 1894 to house Heron Cross County Junior School. A new infants’ school was built adjoining in 1911-12. In 1932 it became Heron Cross County Secondary School. The school, now (in 2013) Heron Cross Primary School is situated at the corner of Grove Street and Claud Street.
