Description:Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), soldier and politician. He is most famous for his role as a military leader during the Napoleonic Wars, and particularly for commanding the army which defeated Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. the 'Iron Duke' was Tory Prime Minister in 1828-1830 and 1834.
