Description:The Post Office was originally located in the Crown Inn, on Crown Street. When mail was no longer carried by coach the Post Office moved to the building on High Street which is now Lloyd's Bank. It then moved across the road to premises which were later taken over by Joule's Brewery, outside which this photograph was taken. The building is now part of the Co-op supermarket. As well as handling mail for the town, Stone Post Office also dealt with mail for the surrounding area, hence the large number of staff. Edwin Poole, a postman with a rural round of Swynnerton, Mill Meece and Yarnfield, is probably in this group.
