Description:Harry Poole was employed an under keeper for the Earl of Shrewsbury at Ingestre under Donald MacDonald in 1914. He served in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps during World War I and returned to Ingestre in 1918, remaining there until 1927. After that he worked for the Congreve family (and others who had shooting rights) at Chartley until 1953 before taking up his last post with Lord Nelson at Hilcote Hall. At the time of this photograph he was was employed at Chartley Hall as Head Keeper under Mr Harrison, who held the shooting rights to the estate.
