Description:John Wesley first preached in Stafford in 1783. For many years the Wesleyans in Stafford used premises in St. Chad's Place as their meeting house, until they built a new chapel on Chapel Street in 1811. This building was soon demolished because of structural defects. A new larger chapel, seen here, was erected on the same site in 1863. A minister's house was built next door. A Sunday school opened in Rowley Street in 1886. The Wesleyan Chapel closed in the 1980s and today only the tower remains.
