Description:The Knoll was designed and built for John Reid Walker (1855-1934) in the mid 1880s, at the time when he became a the Managing Director of the Walker Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent. He was a well known racehorse owner and polo player and set up Barton Polo Club in the 1880s. The Knoll had well-equipped stable block for Walker's polo ponies.
