Description:St. Rufin's Church, Burston viewed from the south. Originally built as a mission church in 1859, it is now part of Sandon parish.

An earlier chapel was built by the River Trent and was extant by 1552. By tradition, this was said to have been built on the spot where Mercian King Wulfhere killed his son Rufin for converting to Christianity. A stone dated 1678 built into St. Rufin's walls under the bellcote is supposed to have come from this earlier chapel.
