Description:The estate was built by the Council after the end of World War II. Work began on the building of the two, three and four-bedroom houses and one-bedroom bungalows in early 1947. The houses were let at inclusive weekly rental rates, with the bungalows costing 10 shillings and the four-bedroomed houses 18 shillings and 7 pence. Braddocks Hey estate was completed in 1952 when 8 shops with flats were built. In total 248 homes had been built, which together with the 74 houses newly completed on the Uplands estate, provided 1300 people with accommodation.
