Description:There is a small grocers shop on the right hand side of the photograph. This shop was run in the 1950s by a Mrs Fenn. It wasn't just a sweet shop - she did sell sweets, but mostly she sold ordinary household groceries; I can remember encountering washing up liquid (a brand called Sqezy, in a black and white plastic bottle!) there for the first time! The shop was tiny and dark - I think most of the light came from the doorway. As children, we tended not to go to Mrs Fenn for sweets, but to Mrs Green who ran the off license next door to the vicarage. Additional information courtesy of Gill Bullen
