Description:Studio photograph of Elizabeth Briscoe (née Smith, 1853-1926) born at Denby, Derbyshire. Her mother farmed and kept a shop and Post Office and was widowed when Elizabeth was young. At the time of the 1921 census Elizabeth was widowed and living at Croxton with her daughter Sybil. Prior to her bereavement in 1918, her husband Henry Briscoe lived at Croxton Villa which had four acres of pasture land allowing the raising of cattle and pigs.
