Description:Josephine Oates tending 14-day old Turkey chicks at Alfred H. Johnson’s Stowe-by-Chartley poultry farm. Josephine, then aged 24, was living in lodgings at the Bullring, Weston and was secretary of the local branch of Staffordshire N.F.U. Young Farmers. She had previously worked with poultry on the Ingeste estate and at her uncle’s farm at Lichfield.
