Description:The New Inn, now (2024) the New Broom, Checkley, on the Uttoxeter Road.

Kate Pattinson, then aged 22, is on the left and Mrs. Ethel Pattinson (nee Arnold, aged 27) is on the right. The little girl is Elsie May Pattinson, later Vernon. Ethel's husband Thomas Elijah Pattinson, 27, was the publican. Information Mrs Elsie Vernon, nee Pattinson. The inn was built on the new turnpike road built in 1823 to bypass Checkley village.
