Description:A painting by Bill Webster in L.S. Lowry's style painted in 2024, showing Longton in 1875. It shows a view from Goddard Street, Longton looking towards Sampson Bridgwood Ltd.'s bottle ovens which were demolished in the 1960s.
This factory was known as the Anchor Works, named after the Anchor Brook, and was built in 1853. The factory spanned Goddard Street and Wharf Street (later Bridgewood Street).

To the left of Bridgwood's bottle ovens was Colclough China Ltd. with their bottle ovens and factory buildings. They used Vale China and Royal Vale as their backstamps.

Sampson Bridgwood Ltd. was renamed in 1992 as Churchill China plc and included the Broadhurst's Pottery Factory in Fenton as well as other Churchill Group operations. The Anchor Works has since been fully demolished and new houses built on the site.
