Description:Some of Fernleigh Welfare Hostel’s oldest residents amongst a party of 40 who were taken on a coach trip to New Brighton by Stafford Round Table.

From 1948 the former Stafford Union Workhouse, built in 1838 on Marston Road, was used as the Fernleigh Hospital and old people's home. It was demolished in 1971.
