Date:25th of November 1984

Description:Mrs Frances Bower approaching Shaffalong Farm on Shaffalong Lane, Cheddleton. Mrs Bower was a member of Cheddleton Historical and Archaeological Society. The farm buildings on the left have since been replaced.

The area had a small coal seam nearby which was unsuccessfully mined on several occasions, the last mine opening in 1904 but abandoned in 1909 as being uneconomical, largely due to flooding..
